Aandavan Kattalai – I have lost count of the number of times I have watched this film since it’s release. There are very few films which tug your soul without too much effort. It almost reminds you of the simpler Malayalam films of the days gone by. The biggest surprise of the film is Vijay Sethupathi not because he is the hero but because he plays second fiddle throughout the film letting his co-stars hog the limelight. He almost plays out the role like a character artist of
Yogi Babu’s comedy is devoid of body shaming. Some good clean humour to make us laughwhile seasoned actors like George and Vinodhini take over the second half. It is not often that you see two underrated actors get the space to show their potential. Aandavan Kattalai does just that.
The romance track between the two leads is tender and sweet. There are no showy elements or the romance overdose. Just what is required. Even someone like Singampuli who is known for loud humour tones it done. Ritika Singh is a sweet contrast to her first film. Nasser is as reliable as always.
