UEFA Champions League 2020/21

As we all know, UEFA Champions League is the most anticipated club-level competition for football fans. It’s all about witnessing the European giant clubs battling against each other for the iconic trophy. And this season’s Champions League draw has been completed and it’s pretty sure the group stage matches are going to give loads of entertainment for the fans. Let’s see an overview of each group in the order.

Starting from Group A, the teams in the group are Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moskva. The champions Bayern will surely fight to retain their title. And speaking about Atletico, they are the team who eliminated previous champions Liverpool in this tournament last season. Salzburg are also a team who can’t be ruled out. They gave us a great match last season at Anfield against Liverpool. So this group has the potential to give unpredictable results for the fans and pundits.

Coming to Group B, the group has Real Madrid, Inter , Shakhtar Donetsk and Monchengladbach. The group consists of two titans, Real Madrid and Inter. Real Madrid are really hungry for the title this season as they couldn’t go past the round of 16 for the past two season. Meanwhile Inter Milan , last season’s Europa Finalists, have been thriving under Conte and nearly edging towards their Glory days of the past. Zidane’s Madrid vs Conte’s Inter will surely be a match to be watched.

The teams in Group C are Porto, Manchester City, Olympiacos and Marseille. Manchester City are the giants of this group. It will be a cakewalk for them to become the group winner. But still, the other teams can be considered as underdogs. So we could see some potential upsets in this group.

In Group D, we have Liverpool, Ajax, Atlanta and Midtjylland. Liverpool, as we know are getting better and better each season. They won Uefa CL and PL in last two seasons. But last season, they were eliminated in round of 16 itself in this tournament, giving fans a huge disappointment. So they will fight to give a comeback this season. And we can never underestimate Ajax. They managed to eliminate Real Madrid and Juventus in the same season. But still many of the players of that time have left the club. And still it’s a club which can deliver new talents. And then there the dark horses , Atlanta. They played excellently last season and managed to get to the quarter finals. Let’s hope they would play with the same passion this season also.

Group E consists of Sevilla, Chelsea, Krasnodar and Rennes. Sevilla are definitely a team to look out for this season, as they won the Europa League last season. Also they played really well against the mighty Bayern in UEFA Super Cup. Then we have Chelsea, who have spent a lot to bring in class players. The expectations levels for Chelsea this season are very high. This will be a huge opportunity for Lampard to prove that he is the right man for job.

Teams in Group F are Zenit, Dortmund, Lazio and Club Brugge. Let’s be honest. This could be the most boring Group. Dortmund can easily the top the group with the quality of players they have. But let’s not underestimate Lazio. They are a pretty decent team in Serie A and football is all about unpredictability. So anything can happen.

Group G has provided the fans what they have been waiting for more than 2 years. We are going to witness two legends play against each other after a long time. Yup, it’s none other than Messi and Ronaldo. Juventus and Barcelona have been drawn into the same group and it has really surprised many fans and has increased the excitement level. The other two teams of the group are Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros. But everyone’s eyes is going to be on Barcelona vs Juventus. It’s more like Messi vs Ronaldo.

Group H should be considered as the “ Group of Death “. The teams in the group are PSG, Manchester United, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir. PSG and RB Leipzig, both face each other in Semi Finals last season. RB Leipzig have lost Timo Werner in the transfer, while PSG have lost Thiago Silva. But they still have top class players and can thrive with them. And then there is Manchester United. They have had a bad transfer window so far. They seriously need to make some signings to compete against the likes of PSG. If United don’t manage to make signings before the window ends, it’s highly possible the fans are going to face a huge upset this season, especially in the Champions League.
