Joshua Hutagalung a 33 year old of North Sumatra got richer by $1.8 million after a meteorite crashed into his house through the roof. He says the meteorite was warm in condition when he touched it.
The meteor was about 2.1 kilogram weight and 4.5 billion years old and it is classified as CM 1/2 Carbonaceous Chondrite, which is extremely a rare variety. Each gram of meteorite is worth $853, says UK Meteor report.
“When I lifted it, the stone was still warm and I brought it into the house. The sound was so loud that parts of the house were shaking too. And after I searched, I saw that the tin roof of the house had broken,” Joshua told local media.
“I strongly suspect that this rock is indeed an object from the sky that many people call a meteorite. Because it is impossible someone deliberately threw it or dropped it from above,” he added.
The meteorite was bought by US meteorite expert Jared Collins. “I carried as much money as I could muster and went to find Josua, who turned out to be a canny negotiator,” said collins
