he only way for theatres to survive is to have a festival release of Master. That is exactly what is going to happen though no one is aware of the safety protocols that are going to be in place for the release. Before that we have a trailer release on New year which will also add to the hype and satisfy the craze of Thalapathy fans. After that when the fans go to the theatre it will be perfect. Master will release on 13th January for Thai Pongal. This will be the big festival release after a long time and hopefully it will meet the expectations.
Earlier the government has announced that there will be a 100 percent occupancy for the Pongal releases Master and Eswaran. Both Vijay and STR have personally requested the CM this and hence this move. Though it seemed like a good move for cinema there was widespread public outrage regarding this including a viral letter from a doctor pleading with the actors to not opt for 100 percent occupancy in theatres. Now a letter from Home Secretary has asked the TN government to adhere to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, which was extended to remain in force till January 31,2021. This is a huge blow for both Pongal releases.
