Recently, the prominent director of Tamil cinema, Shankar, announced the remake of Anniyan in Hindi.
Aascar Ravichandran, the producer of Anniyan in Tamil, was outraged for not acquiring consent for remaking the film.
In April 2021, Shankar and Jayantilal Gada announced that they would be remaking Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh playing the lead role.
In a short phone call interview with Entertainment Times, Ravichandran sounded disappointed and he said, “I was shocked that without my knowledge, a remake of the film was announced. It must be the first time that something like this has happened in our cinema.”
Also, the producer said, “I am going to court against Shankar and Jayantilal Gada. They cannot make the film without my consent as I own the copyright of the film and no other person has the right over it as I am the author of the movie.”
To the above statement, Shankar responded to the producer stating that Anniyan was his script and everyone knows about it.
Ravichandran added, “He can say and claim anything, but everyone knows that ‘Anniyan’ is my movie and I hired him to direct the film.”
Furthermore, he laid out, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) has been supporting him. And they have informed him to wait a little longer as SIFCC spoke to the film association in Mumbai. But it is not Shankar who he wants to accuse but the producer of the film Gadaji with whom he wants to discuss the project.
